White-water Rafting

White-water Rafting

This is the best one day rafting river on the planet, guaranteed!!! The river fill up between mid February and the end of June. White Water Rafting on the Zambezi River below the Victoria Falls has been classified by the British Canoe Union as Grade 5 – “ extremely difficult, long and violent rapids, steep gradients, big drops and pressure areas”. This is a high volume, pool-drop river with little exposed rock in the rapids and in the pools below the rapids.

Also known as THE OPEN SEASON “low water” occurs when the Zambezi River is at its lowest level between July and mid-February. Gnashing rapids... this is the best time to raft the Zambezi. Day trips are conducted between rapids 1 and 19 covering a distance of approximately 25km.

The “high water” season follows after inflow from rains in Angola and Zambia. The water rises and flows more rapidly creating whirlpools in the first section of the normal low water run and the day trips move downstream from rapids 11 to 24 covering a distance of approximately 18km. February to July will mark the high water season. Occasionally the river will close for OFF season around April/May though this is totally depended on the rain pattern and river levels for that specific year.
